There are three things God promises to use to fulfill His purposes:

  1. The Word of God, the Bible. It is the only inspired, authoritative (whether the listener agrees or not), objective, "active" revelation of God, His character, His ways, His will, and His enablement for salvation, spiritual growth, and Christian living.
  2. The Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity. We don't control the Holy Spirit; but the Spirit's active work in regeneration, salvation, and sanctification is our only hope for spiritual fruit and progress.
  3. Prayer. God asks us to pray. The Bible teaches and commands us to pray. God assures that He hears and answers prayer. Praying is analogous to a military special forces operative behind enemy lines calling in air support to take new territory for God's side to expand His Kingdom.
