Missiology is the research and study of the most effective processes and practices of Christian world evangelization. Ed Stetzer (Ph.D. in missiology) notes that missiology occurs “at the intersection of gospel, culture, and the church” and “is a multi-disciplinary study that incorporates theology, anthropology/sociology, and ecclesiology.”[1]
The goal of such research and study is to help missionaries better understand what the larger community of missionaries are learning and practicing, so that they may engage in thoughtful and more effective ministry.
